A replica of the Z3 and the original Z4 are on permanent display in the Deutsches Museum in Munich. The Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin devotes an exhibition to twelve of his machines. He had no knowledge of what his contemporaries were doing. He reached the same destination by a completely different route, and arrived first. 

His patent application for the Z3 anticipated by six years what would later be described as the von Neumann architecture: the separation of processing unit, memory, input and output.

Konrad Zuse died on 18 December 1995 in Hünfeld, Hesse, aged 85.
